For Visitors

Welcome

Welcome! We will try to answer some common questions for people new to St. Andrews. If we’ve missed something, please let us know! We want help you and others feel comfortable about joining us. Everyone is welcome to worship the Lord with us.
What should I wear?
We dress respectfully for worship; for most, that look is business casual. While some wear suits and dresses, most do not. Many women wear slacks and children can dress like children! The Lord focuses on the heart, so dress in a way that reflects an attitude of worship. Being "dressy" is not a priority here.
Where should I park?
There are public parking lots adjacent to the church and across the street. On Sundays, many choose to park on the streets around the church (Mulberry and Walnut).
Is there anything for my children?
Yes. We have a nursery for under 3 which is in the parish hall, next to the sanctuary. At 10:30 elementary students are invited to go with a priest and youth minister for "children's church" during the Liturgy of the Word. They return at Communion. Generally, 8-12 kids are present.
Sunday school for all ages is between the services at 9:30. The Youth Group (grades 6-12) also has Wednesday Evening Bible study and regular events on Sunday afternoon or weekends. The group is about 10-15 teens for most events. Check the calendar for current plans.

How will I find a Bible Study or class?
Sunday School (9:30) is in the Parish Halll, the building parallel to the sanctuary. This same room hosts Bible Studies at 10:00 am Monday (Men) Tuesday (Women) WEdnesdsay (Fr Jeff) Thursday (Fr Christian)
Where should I go during my first Sunday visit?
Enter the Big Red Doors and. you are in the sanctuary. The Parish Hall is to the right through the covered walkway. There are ushers to greet you before services. It is best to meet the priests after the service.
Anything different I might expect?
We are liturgical which means we have traditional services using a prayer book. There is a hymnal as well. A bulletin provides page numbers and reading.

For some people the reverence and beauty of the service is very powerful. You will not encounter pop music or the informality of many churches.
Most people pray quietly before the service
Where should I sit during the worship service?
There are no assigned seats. The church seats roughly 100-120. No surprise, the back half fills up first.
What about communion?
Any baptized, Christian believer is welcome to receive. We believe that the bread and (real) wine are sacramentally the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. People come up a row at a time. They kneel (or stand if needed) at the altar rail and return to their seat after receiving. If you are unable to come forward let the usher know and a priest will bring communion to you in the pew.

Will I fit in?
We sure hope so! Jesus' love is among us and He commands us to make a community where all can find their place. There are roughly 250-300 people who are involved in the church. Try it out and let's see. A priest would be happy to meet with you and help connect you with people and programs to help make you comfortable.
